To say that life has been busy - well that is an understatement! Life has been insane lately. Ringette season finished, we had to find a new home daycare, swimming lessons started up and a trip was taken.
So lets start with the trip! Greg and I have not been away together without the kids since I was pregnant with Emily - 8 years. It was time and it was a much needed break. So a few months ago we fired off an e-mail to some friends who live in Alberta and they were more than game for an adult only vacation. And what is one of the best adult only locales - why Las Vegas of course!
We dropped all three girls and our golden retriever off at my parents house on a Sunday morning and then we drove down to Grand Forks, North Dakota to catch a flight there. We had booked a package deal with Allegiant Air that was cheaper than flying from home. We spent the day doing some shopping and drove down to Fargo as well to shop a bit more there. We spent the night in Grand Forks and the next day we headed to the airport. Unfortunately for us, when we arrived, we found out our flight had been cancelled. The best Allegiant could do was to fly us out the next night at 6pm. Not good enough so we cancelled our entire trip with Allegiant (their customer service was absolutely terrible and I will never, ever fly with them again) and re-booked with Delta and our hotel separately. We arrived in Vegas around the same time that we were initially supposed to and settled into our room at the MGM Grand. While we waited for our friends to arrive, we headed down to dinner at one of the restaurants in the MGM Grand and then explored a bit. Our friends arrived a few hours later and to be honest, I don't even know what time we went to bed, but lets just say it was well into the Tuesday before our heads hit the pillow.
We spent the next four days touring Vegas - everything from the main strip to Old Vegas, the outlet mall to the local fire hall. We took in a Cirque Du Soleil show called KA, learned how to play craps (which is now our game of choice), watched the fountain at the Bellagio and ate, ate, ate. We had dinner at P.F. Changs, Wolf Gang Pucks and Gordon Ramsay Steak. Gordon Ramsay Steak was the best meal I have eaten - ever in my life. He can continue to yell and scream at people all day long if he can have his team of chefs cook like that. Amazing!
Friday we headed home and unfortunately due to some fog in Grand Forks, we were forced to spend an extra night in Minneapolis. But we made it home just after lunch and even were able to take the older girls to the Jets game like we had planned (well our brother in law Mike took my place which was a huge favor to me - I just wanted to unpack and unwind).

We had a great time away and are already starting to think on and plan our next trip with these great traveling friends!
In February, we celebrated as our little lady Peyton turned two! She is a bundle of laughs that one and she has me howling on a daily basis. I love that kid.
And of course, we celebrated Easter as well! Lots of fun was had doing our annual Easter hunt!

Greg and I also took some time and went to the Bon Jovi concert in early April. Lots of fun, great music and the crowd there made me feel young!!
Emily started violin lessons in April as well. She has a pretty good ear and is already getting songs out that sound like songs...lol.
So that has been the past few months in a nutshell for us. Whew! We are looking forward to the start of 3 on 3 ringette, soccer, the end of school and of course the start of camping season!
