It's now mid-April and spring has yet to arrive here. This past weekend we invited friends over for a barbecue. That same day, we received 5cm of snow. Good grief. While I know this batch won't last long, I am so tired of cold weather and snow.
Even though the temperature outside is telling me otherwise, the calendar is saying that spring is here and our winter activities have all wound down and spring and summer plans are in full swing. Hockey season is complete and the girls first year of hockey was a blast! Our team was filled with girls who were the sweetest little things and with parents and coaches who were all great to be around. We had our hockey wind up on Friday night and it was such an enjoyable evening spending time together. I am grateful for that since between our two older girls, we will be seeing these families consistently for the next 13 years or so.
All three girls started swimming lessons last week. They all enjoy them and for the first time, I do not have to be in the pool with anyone - big smiles over here for that development.
I have also taken over as captain of my ultimate Frisbee team and have spent a fair amount of time over the past few weeks getting organized and registering us for the summer league. We have also signed up our two oldest girls for a summer hockey camp. Sami-Jo Small is putting on a week long camp in our area this July and we though this would be a fabulous opportunity for our girls to meet some very talented and very strong female role models. Many of the girls from their hockey team have also signed up so they are very much looking forward to that week.
We have also booked all of our camping trips for the summer - five in total. I'm very much looking forward to some summer fun!
We celebrated our littlest peanut turning three - she is a Sophia The First fanatic and the theme is pretty consistent throughout her gifts...lol.
Even though we survived the third coldest winter on record in the last hundred years, there were still opportunities to head outside and play in the massive piles of snow we received this year. Greg plowed paths in the yard so that the dog and kids could get around.
We also really enjoyed the winter Olympics this year. As Canadians, we should all be very proud of how well our athletes performed and how well the represented our country. Gold medals in men's and women's hockey along with gold for both the men and women in curling were such great ways to end off this Olympics. Here is Peyton meeting three members of team Jones - winners of curling gold in Sochi.
Spring break saw us heading down to Minneapolis for some shopping, water park and Nickelodeon World fun. We met up with some friends at the mall and had a lot of fun going on rides with them. We also braved the American Girl store - an experience I do not need to repeat anytime soon. There is a reason that I enjoy online shopping so much and the time spent in that store solidified my stance on that...lol.
Danica has started taking violin lessons along with Emily and they both are enjoying that. Emily has also taken on the challenge of playing hand bells with a group of kids from church. It's so wonderful watching your kids grow and develop their own interests and talents.

Awesome August
We are just finishing up a few much needed weeks of vacation. Emily headed off to her first week of sleepover camp and had a great time. She is already looking forward to going again next year. We went camping with friends, spent some time at Tinkertown and have also had lots of time to enjoy a bit of a stay cation.
School begins this week and the girls are excited to go back and see their friends. The older girls are registered for hockey and a schedule of board meetings, hockey and birthday parties is already filling up our September. It's hard to believe that the summer has gone by so fast!
