Emily's 18 Month Doctor's Appointment

Emily went to the doctor yesterday for her 18 month appointment. She was such a trouper. She sat quietly and smiled at the nurse while she was being weighed and flirted with her doctor (up until he pulled the needles out). She had two booster shots and she was a champion about it. She cried a bit, but was more interested in playing with her Grammy while we got her dressed again a few minutes later.

She weighs 28 and a half pounds now (95th percentile) and her height is off the charts for her age (34 and a half inches). The doctor measured her twice to be sure that he was right. He thinks that she will be taller than me for sure - he's guessing around 5'9" or 5'10" (I'm 5'8"). He said with my height and Greg being 6'3", it would be pretty unlikely for us to have a short girl!

She doesn't need another shot until she is 5 so that will be nice. Dr. Rajani will check her out when he is looking at the new baby but he said that unless we are concerned about her for some reason, he really doesn't need to see her. He said that as parents, we will know if something is not right and that we should trust our instincts as far as her development goes. I like that theory - too often doctors don't put a lot of faith into a parent's ability to know their child and to know when something is wrong.
