July

We've had a busy month and I can't believe that it's almost August - where has the time gone?

Danica learned to crawl this month and just yesterday mastered pulling herself up to a standing position on her own. She is quite proud of herself for that one! We have been busy with yard work, getting the finishing touches done on our kitchen and window treatments and life in general. Both Greg and I are still playing on a co-ed softball team on Monday's and I am still playing ultimate Frisbee on Wednesday's.
I spent this past weekend marking module 1 for the CA Institute of Business which is a great money maker for me and a great chance to catch up with people that I don't otherwise get much of an opportunity to see.

We also spent 5 days at Gull Harbour with Greg's parents at a cabin. We didn't have great weather but we still made it to the beach a few times!!
This coming weekend we are going to a wedding for close family friends Diane and Graham. I'm looking forward to that a lot!

Some pictures from that past month...

Emily learning how to cast her new princess fishing rod.

Miss Joe Cool.

Danica was too close for Emily's comfort.

Reeling in a fish.

Shortly after this picture was taken, Daddy took the fish off the hook and it jumped out of his hands and flopped around on the pier - screaming ensued.

This was Greg's next catch.

Standing by our self and so very proud of it!

Farm Day

Greg worked a night shift last night so I needed to come up with something to do this morning to get the girls out of the house and keep them entertained and give Greg some peace and quiet so he could sleep. I decided to take them out to Morning Sound Farm which is about 45 minutes away from our house just outside the city.

They had a blast - they both rode on a pony (although Emily wasn't as impressed with it as Danica was), pet and held baby chicks, fed both baby calf's and full size cows, milked a goat, played with numerous kittens and puppies, pet a donkey, played with baby sheep, fed some chickens and roosters, played with rabbits, went on a hayride and topped it all off with a picnic lunch. It was a great morning and I would take them back again in a heartbeat.

Happy Canada Day!

We spent the day at the lake yesterday with our friends - Greg and Donna and their daughters Ariel and Mikayla and Jamie and Tannis with their daughter Emma. We enjoyed a gorgeous day and spent most of it at the beach playing in the sand and water and enjoying boat rides and a few turns being pulled behind the boat. After dinner, the boys took their older girls on a fishing trip while the girls put the little ones to bed and had some cocktails and smores. On the way home, Greg and Donna and Greg and I stopped in Beausejour for some ice cream. It was so good! It was a great day and we all were exhausted by the time we got home last night.

Our friends Steve and Jen also welcomed their fifth child - Samuel Anthony - into the world yesterday. He's 8 pounds 6 ounces of squishy goodness and is so cute. I went for a quick visit to the hospital today and Jen is looking great and doing well. Her other sons - Isaac, Joshua, Matthew and Jesse had been by earlier this morning to see their new little brother and they are enthralled with him as well. Congrats guys!! We wish you all the best!

Here are some pictures from yesterday.

A Little Danica Update

Danica had another follow-up appointment with her pediatric orthopaedic specialist yesterday. He took x-rays of her hips again and did some more manipulations to feel if they were slipping out of place. Her x-rays showed that her right hip (the one that had the problems to start with) is still slightly uneven with her left hip but he feels that with a bit more growing, that should straighten itself out. He also could not feel any slipping when he was moving her joints around. So, all in all pretty good news. He wants to see her again in 9 months to do another x-ray to make sure that everything has grown properly and that she is properly mobile.

On the mobility front, she has mastered sitting and has started moving around by scooting on her bum. Her favourite thing right now is to scoot over to the book shelf and start pulling all of her and Emily's books off of the shelves!

Circus Fun

Today we went to the circus for the first time with the girls. Emily had a really good time and Danica actually slept through a good portion of it. Both girls are crashed having naps right now. Emily's bed is covered with old sheets and pillow cases as she did not want to take her "face" off.

Rainy Sunday

It's quiet time in the house right now. Greg is working nights tonight so he is taking a nap and both girls are down for their naps as well. Keizer has also decided that the computer room is a good place to drift off and I am being serenaded by his snoring right now. I have a pot of spaghetti sauce that I made after church simmering on the stove for the afternoon and it looks like the skies could open up at any minute and offer a lovely thundershower. I love thunderstorms - especially when we are all safe and sound at home. Sigh - I couldn't ask for a more peaceful Sunday afternoon.

We've had a fun past few weeks. It's been really nice here the past bit and shorts have been a necessity. As part of our summer fun, we have added quite a few items to our backyard. When I look out the kitchen window, all I can see is kids stuff and I have to say that I love it. The girls have so much fun in the backyard and I like the convenience of having it all in the yard instead of having to go to the park.
